LDS LEADER: CAN'T DENY MORMON YOUTH BULK OF RIOTERS

Date: 9 January 2007
Auckland, 2pm: A Tongan LDS leader says they can't argue with the
facts if police say Mormon youth were the ones behind the recent Black
Thursday Riots ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Tonga_riots)

Suliasi Kaufusi, from Nukualofa, says the Church is shattered at the
news but have to believe that more than half of those  involved in the
riots are believed to be members of the Mormon Church. (listen

It's being said that many of the youth who helped destroy Nukualofa
that day were troublesome  youth sent back to Tonga from the United
States.

Locals have said that some of them have been "deportees" sent packing
from Utah, the Mormon capital of the world.

Ofa Guttenbiel Likiliki, whose with one of the NGOs in Nukualofa,
says there's a big Mormon community there and that many of the US
Mormons would've found it easy to influence local youth.
