Hinckley Oldest LDS President In Church History

Gordon B. Hinckley is the oldest president in the 176-year history of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Hinckley turned 96 years and one-hundred and 33 days old today,
passing David McKay, who was the president of the Mormon church from
1951 to 1970.

Hinckley has been church president since 1995.

Last month at the church's fall conference, Hinckley noted the
milestone and said he shall continue to give his best to the task at
hand.

Church officials say nothing special is planned for today. Earlier
this year, Hinckley had a cancerous growth removed from his colon, but
his health is now good.
