cleared the way.
With a final order entered, couples marched to New Haven City Hall to
get marriage licenses, and less than two hours after the final court
hearing, Peg Oliveira and Jennifer Vickery were married in a brief
ceremony.
The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on Oct. 10 that same-sex
couples have the right to wed rather than accept a civil union law
designed to give them the same rights as married couples.

Is it just me or does this seem to be a case of wanting what can't be had? For years and years my gay friends (I'm a Mormon) that i've grown up with and love dearly have never wanted or even considered a marriage between them, most are in long term relationships and happy. With all the talk of hetrosexual people only wanting to live together why all of a sudden has this apparent hate crime touched a nerve to the point of sheer evilness? I have no opinion one way or another about prop 8, because I believe in free agency just like God gave us all, but man want to adapt, alter and suit to themselves rather than respect our maker. If that means someone is gay then that is between them and God at the given time.
ReplyDeletePeople need to make up their minds, either marriage is on or off, gay or not.
I have many gay friends that even now do not wish to marry, and here in the uk gay marriage has been legalised.
I dont claim to make sense on this, but i just worry about the people who have turned into monsters, they do not help their cause or give anyone any confidence in their community around us. I can see why we still have homophobics...which again is a free choice, altho not a nice one.
Tens of millions spent denying same-sex marriages in California, and within days, another state is legalizing it anyway. In the long term, opponents of same-sex marriages are going to be on the losing end of this fight. Just like those who fought against voting rights for blacks were eventually on the losing end.
